I started to play rugby at school in Kilmarnock, Scotland. I joined Kilmarnock Rugby Club when I was 12 and never looked back.

I played for many years with Kilmarnock before moving to California where I joined Back Bay Rugby Club in Newport Beach.

I became the Secretary and then then President for a number of years and eventually moved to the Secretary of Southern California Rugby Football Union.

After years of playing, and picking up some injuries I decided to switch to refereeing.   I picked up the whistle and have enjoyed continuing to take part in the game I’ve loved for years.

I am now the Secretary for Southern California Rugby Referee Society.

Scotland was where started to surf….but first it was windsurfing.  The wind was always available and I lived by the ocean, so I was able to enjoy weekends of windsurfing.

After moving to California, it was clear that I had to switch to surfing.  And it has become my weekend escape to the beach.

Every weekend you’ll probably find me at San Onofre enjoying a few waves.

After getting some hip surgery to repair a tear, I was told that running isn’t in my future (or at least, it needs to be reduced).

So I picked up a mountain bike and started to cycle.  And loved it!

I started climbing a few years ago. Since I go camping and often find myself climbing over rocks, I figured I should take a few instructions.

Now you can find me trying to scale some of the great and challenging walls in Southern California’s climbing gyms
